A trip on a traditional sailing boat along the Costa Brava, with a rice dish served on board, departing from Palamós

If, for you, enjoying a delicious rice dish by the sea means queuing at a hectic restaurant, we’ve got a better idea: enjoy it whilst moored in a secluded cove aboard a historic sailing boat.

Climb aboard a wooden gem from 1949 in Palamós and experience a 6-hour shared cruise along the Costa Brava. Sail at a leisurely pace between the cliffs, take a dip to go snorkelling or try stand-up paddleboarding in spots inaccessible from land, and savour a delicious seafood or vegetable paella prepared fresh on board. An exclusive, gourmet and very relaxed experience, ideal for switching into holiday mode and making the most of summer at a leisurely pace.

What we will do

We will arrive on time at the meeting point in Palamós, Girona. There, the professional skipper and crew will be on hand to welcome us aboard the “Ría de Ferrol”, a spectacular wooden sailing ship built in 1949. After a brief introduction and a review of the essential safety rules, we’ll settle down on its classic deck to begin our day’s sailing.

We’ll set sail for the wildest coves and hidden corners of the Girona coastline, combining sailing and motoring depending on the wind conditions each day. The route is designed to allow us to enjoy the seascape at a leisurely pace. As we make our way between imposing cliffs, the crew will share fascinating insights into the ship’s history and the secrets of the Costa Brava.

We’ll drop anchor in coves with crystal-clear waters sheltered from the wind to enjoy the sea at our own pace. There’ll be time to put on our lifejackets and jump into the water to swim, explore the seabed with the included snorkelling gear, or test our balance by hopping onto a paddleboard. If you’d rather stay dry, you can lie back and soak up the sun on board, relax under the deck awning or work up an appetite with a traditional snack of potatoes and olives alongside your first complimentary drink.

At lunchtime,we’ll enjoy a delicious seafood or vegetable rice dish prepared on board , accompanied by chilled white wine, right in the heart of the nature reserve. After lunch, we’ll make the most of our free time to rest on the boat’s spacious decks, sunbathe or enjoy a pleasant siesta lulled by the waves. After completing the full 6 hours of this unforgettable maritime and gastronomic experience, we’ll return to the port of Palamós feeling fully recharged.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for everyone aged 0 and over.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Babies aged 0 to 3 years participate free of charge, although they must be included in the booking as they take up a physical seat on board.

It is recommended that you can swim if taking part in the water activities.

The activity is suitable for pregnant women and accessible to people with reduced mobility. The boat is at the same level as the jetty and does not require an access ramp, so there is only one small step to board safely.

Tours are available every day from 20 June to 15 September.

The tour is organised in shared groups with a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 10 people per group.

Access to the meeting point by public transport is limited, so we recommend travelling by car; you’ll find parking spaces on nearby streets and public car parks at the entrance to the town.

Pets are allowed provided they are well-behaved and the other passengers on the shared trip give their explicit consent upon boarding.

The sailing boat is a traditional vessel dating from 1949, measuring 13 metres in length.

The route and anchorage points for swimming may be adjusted at any time by the skipper depending on sea and wind conditions to ensure safety.
