Full description

Did you know that the sun is the only star we can see up close and that it holds secrets that will leave you speechless?

Escape from routine in a 1-hour experience in Badajoz, designed to make you feel like a real solar explorer. Accompanied by an expert, you will learn how to safely observe our nearest star and see flares or sunspots with a high-end telescope, unique in Spain. It doesn't matter if it's your first time; you will discover the solar chromosphere in the most comfortable and exciting way.

What we will do

We will meet 10 minutes before the agreed time at the meeting point in Fregenal de la Sierra, Badajoz. There we will be met by our guide, a qualified astronomer, who will welcome us to this magical corner of Extremadura and explain how the most advanced technology allows us to explore the sun without risk.

We will begin the first half hour with an observation with the naked eye protected by special eclipse glasses. We will learn how to locate sunspots and discover fascinating facts about the behaviour of the sun and how it influences our daily lives. This will be the first contact to understand the magnitude of what we are about to witness.

In the second part, we will go into action with a specialised Double Stack 130 solar telescope, a technological jewel of which there are very few available in Spain. We take turns peering through the scope to get closer to the solar chromosphere. We will get a close-up view of the flares, the granulation of the surface and the impressive protuberances that rise thousands of kilometres into space.

As we are a small group, we will be able to ask all our questions while the guide explains in detail each phenomenon that appears before our eyes. After 1 hour of solar exploration, we will leave with the sensation of having witnessed a unique spectacle that leaves no one indifferent, giving us a totally new perspective of our nearest star.
