Full description

Did you know that the Dehesa Extremeña is considered by the Starlight Foundation as one of the darkest and most privileged places on the planet to look at the sky?

Escape from routine on a 1. 5 hour adventure in Badajoz, designed to make you feel like a true explorer of the cosmos. Accompanied by an expert, you will learn to read the sky with the naked eye and with a 16-inch telescope you will discover galaxies and nebulae in the simplest and most fun way.

What we will do

We will meet 10 minutes before the agreed time at the meeting point in Fregenal de la Sierra, Badajoz. There we will be met by our guide, a qualified astronomer, who will welcome us and explain the singularities of this magical corner of Extremadura, a true paradise to contemplate the firmament far from light pollution.

We will begin with a naked eye observation during the first half hour. With the help of a laser, we will go through the celestial vault to identify the most important constellations and stars. We will learn how to orientate ourselves, listen to fascinating stories about the stars and discover curiosities that will change the way we look at the night.

In the second part, we will move into action with a powerful 16-inch professional telescope. Taking turns, we will look through the scope to observe the most spectacular objects depending on the season: galaxies in spring, the immensity of the Milky Way in summer or nebulae in the colder months. We will see Saturn's rings and Jupiter's moons up close and feel that we can almost touch the moon with our hands.

As we are a small group, we will be able to ask all our questions while the guide explains in detail what we are seeing through the telescope. After about 1. 5 hours of deep exploration, we will say goodbye with the feeling that the cosmos is now a little less unknown, but with our curiosity aroused to continue discovering all the wonders hidden in the infinite.
