Full description

Put on your hiking boots, open your eyes wide and get ready for an adventure in the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park that will awaken all your senses.

During this guided hiking route you will observe a great diversity of ecosystems: Mediterranean scrubland, streams, pine forests and hills that make this natural park so attractive. You will be able to identify tracks and traces of the Iberian lynx and, when you reach the dehesa, you will witness the habitat of deer, fallow deer and mouflon.

4 hours to cover 12 km of pure nature. Let yourself be enveloped by the aromas of the Mediterranean scrubland and enjoy the panoramic views.

What we will do

We will arrive at 8:30 in the morning at the village of the sanctuary of the Virgen de la Cabeza. Our guide and environmentalist will welcome us with a brief introduction to the rules of conduct of the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park and the characteristics of the route.

We will start the walk through pine forests and Mediterranean scrubland, smelling the fragrance of typical Sierra Morena plants such as rosemary, lavender and rockrose. We will walk along dirt tracks and paths surrounded by vegetation, overcoming some unevenness with the help of stone steps. We will walk through the habitat of the Iberian lynx and the guide will show us how to identify the tracks of this protected feline.

We will cross a wooden bridge over a stream and continue walking until we reach a meadow inhabited by numerous deer, fallow deer and mouflon, from where we will be amazed by the panoramic views of the park. We will also be able to watch birds with the help of the optical equipment available, as well as learn from the information sheets and guides.

After four hours of quiet walking and observation, we will finish the route with the sensation of having explored one of the wildest and most fascinating corners of Sierra Morena.

The total duration of the route is approximately 4 hours.
