Full description

If you’re looking for a time machine to whisk you away from the usual crowded beaches, climb aboard a wooden boat steeped in a century of history and set sail for the wildest archipelago off Palamós.

Climb aboard an old Algerian fishing boat and enjoy an exciting two-and-a-half-hour voyage to the mystical Formigues Islands. Learn traditional rod-and-reel fishing techniques under the skipper’s guidance , take a dip in crystal-clear waters to snorkel amongst the local marine life, and relax on deck whilst savouring a traditional snack with a drink included. A fantastic, characterful, authentic and truly unique experience, ideal for switching into adventure mode and switching off completely.

What we will do

We’ll arrive on time at the meeting point in Palamós, Girona. There , the crew will be on hand to welcome us aboard the “Jolie Biche”, a beautiful traditional wooden fishing boat with two imposing masts, built a century ago. After going over the basic safety rules, we’ll settle down on its classic deck to set off on a voyage steeped in history and mysticism.

We’ll set sail for the Formigues Islands archipelago, situated some 3 nautical miles away, combining sailing with a hands-on sport fishing experience. The skipper will teach us the basics of traditional fishing, hand out the rods and bait, and guide us in casting our lines into the magnificent waters of the Costa Brava whilst we take in the panoramic views of the cliffs of Cap Roig and the silhouette of Calella de Palafrugell.

We’ll drop anchor in an area of turquoise waters, sea conditions permitting. It will be time to cool off with a refreshing dip and explore the seabed using the snorkelling masks provided, swimming amongst fish and Posidonia seagrass beds. If you’d rather stay dry, you can relax on deck whilst enjoying the unspoilt surroundings and the sea breeze.

We’ll enjoy a traditional snack on board consisting of chips and olives, accompanied by a complimentary drink of your choice: wine, beer or a soft drink. After completing the full two-and-a-half hours of this authentic seaside excursion, we’ll return to the port of Palamós with our catch, plenty of laughter and our batteries fully recharged.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for everyone aged 0 and over.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Babies aged 0 to 3 years participate free of charge, although they must be included in the booking as they take up a physical seat on board.

It is recommended that you can swim if taking part in the water activities.

The activity is suitable for pregnant women and accessible to people with reduced mobility. The boat is at the same level as the jetty and does not require an access ramp, so there is only one small step to board safely.

Other information

Tours are available from Tuesday to Sunday from 15 May to 15 October.

The tour is organised in shared groups with a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 11 people per group.

Access to the meeting point by public transport is limited, so we recommend travelling by car; you’ll find parking spaces on nearby streets and public car parks at the entrance to the town.

You are allowed to bring your own food on board (such as breakfast or lunch) .

Pets are allowed provided they are well-behaved and the other passengers on the shared trip give their explicit consent upon boarding.

The schooner is a vessel 13 metres in length.
