Are you looking for a jungle without travelling to the Amazon? Swap the asphalt for the only ravine in the Eastern Sierra Morena and get ready for an unforgettable experience!
Take a 3-hour adventure between the sierra and the riverside of Marmolejo. The Barranco de los Pobres is the perfect initiation route if you want to learn canyoning without extreme complications. You'll overcome 3 abseils, a handrail and a cliff in a semi-aquatic water course that will make you feel like you're in the middle of the jungle. With expert guides you will discover the wildest side of Jaén in an experience that will get your adrenaline pumping.
What we will do
We will meet at the agreed time at the meeting point in Villa del Río to start the day. After the introductions, we will dedicate the first few minutes to a technical briefing where we will learn how to handle the safety equipment and the keys to move freely along the ravine, making sure we are comfortable before we start.
Once equipped, we will enter the Barranco de los Pobres, a unique place for its beauty and for being the only descent with these characteristics in Sierra Morena Oriental. What makes this route special is its jungle environment; we will walk along a water course surrounded by such dense vegetation that we will feel like we are on a real tropical expedition without leaving Jaén.
During the route, we will put our agility to the test by overcoming fun technical challenges: we will do 3 rappels, a handrail passage and an abseil. As this is a canyon without obligatory jumps, the descent is very controlled and fluid, allowing us to concentrate on enjoying the scenery and perfecting our ropes technique under the supervision of expert guides.
It is the perfect adventure to disconnect and experience nature in an active way in a setting that breaks with the usual landscape of the area. In total, the activity lasts approximately 3 hours, including the preparations and the descent.
Who it is aimed at
This is an introductory activity designed for everyone, with no need for previous experience.
It is necessary to be in normal physical condition and not have an excessive fear of heights.
The minimum age is 12 years old, and the maximum weight allowed is 120 kg.
Minors must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.
For safety reasons, this experience is not suitable for pregnant women, people who have recently undergone surgery or people in wheelchairs.
In cases of reduced mobility, it will be necessary to contact the organisers in advance to evaluate each case on a personalised basis.

The activity is available from May to November, with daily departures scheduled at 10: 00.
Free parking is available at the meeting point .
The departure is confirmed with a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 8.
Accompanying persons who do not participate can wait at the meeting point.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund!
