Full description
Who said you can’t bottle time?
Enjoy a wine-tasting experience in the heart of Tenerife by visiting Tajinaste Viñedos y Bodega. Discover the uniqueness of the braided cordon training system amongst the century-old vineyards of La Orotava, take a tour of the facilities and take part in a guided tasting of six wines born from volcanic soil and shaped by the influence of the Atlantic.
Discover the essence of Canary Islands PDO wines.
What we will do
Our expert wine tourism guide will meet us at the Tajinaste Viñedos y Bodega visitor centre in La Orotava, about 15 minutes before the scheduled time. We’ll start the experience with a refreshing glass of sparkling wine as a welcome drink, and then we’ll be ready for a stroll amongst the vines.
We’ll spend the first 40 minutes discovering the unique features of the vineyard and the winery. We’ll walk amongst the plots to observe the ‘cordón trenzado’ training system – a method unique in the world that defines the identity of the Orotava Valley. We’ll learn how the volcanic soils, the trade winds, the influence of the Atlantic, the salinity and the altitude shape the character of these century-old vines and their indigenous varieties.
Next, we’ll explore the facilities of this historic winery, part of the Canary Islands PDO – Canary Wines: the traditional wine press, the barrel room and the modern winemaking areas to learn about the estate’s technical evolution.
We’ll return to the visitor centre for a guided tasting of five other wines representative of the estate:
- Tajinaste Dry White
- Paisaje de las Islas Malvasía and Marmajuelo
- Tajinaste Traditional Red
- CAN
- Paisaje de las Islas Naturally Sweet Malvasía
The full experience will last approximately 2 hours.
