Forget those boring guided tours where you have to file past one by one; here you’ve got 14 kilometres of the River Segura to paddle down at your own pace, splash the person next to you and stop for a proper sandwich halfway through.
Enjoy a brilliant, fun-filled descent lasting up to 4 hours through the spectacular Ricote Valley in Murcia. You’ll kayak from Cieza to Blanca, navigating small rapids at your own pace and stopping halfway to savour a delicious picnic. It’s the perfect outing for all ability levels and includes a complimentary photo report. A truly perfect adventure!
What we will do
We’ll meet at the agreed time at the meeting point in Blanca, Murcia. There, we’ll be welcomed and, after a quick check-in, we’ll be given the approved equipment (compulsory life jacket, helmet and paddles) and board the organisers’ coach for a comfortable journey upriver to Cieza, the starting point.
We’ll take part in a crash course led by qualified instructors right on the riverbank. During this short session, we’ll learn how to control the kayak with ease, coordinate our paddling strokes and master the key safety rules so we can navigate the current with complete confidence.
We’ll set off towards Blanca to cover 14 km of the river at our own pace and with complete freedom, whilst always having safety support on land. Halfway along the route, at El Jarral, a spot situated on the left bank of the River Segura as it flows through Abarán. We’ll stop to enjoy a delicious picnic (included in the price ) featuring a selection of sandwiches on homemade bread (with chorizo, salchichón, cheese or tuna) and an all-you-can-drink selection of beer, soft drinks or water.
We’ll complete the final stretch before disembarking back at the base, making for a total duration of between three and a half and four hours.
Who it is aimed at
This group activity is suitable for everyone. No previous experience is required.
You do not need to be able to swim to take part, as life jackets and helmets are compulsory.
To get into a double kayak accompanied by an adult, the minimum age is 14. If you prefer to paddle a single kayak on your own, you must be at least 25 years old.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
The maximum weight limit is 100 kg per participant.
Due to the river’s currents and the risk of impact, this activity is not suitable for people in wheelchairs or with reduced mobility. Participation is also not recommended for pregnant women.
Pets are not permitted on the trip.
Other information
The experience is available from Easter onwards. During the summer season, it takes place every day of the week, whilst for the rest of the year it takes place on Saturdays and Sundays.
A minimum of 1 participant is required, and a maximum of over 100 people are allowed per session.
Parking is available at the meeting point . Please note that it is not possible to reach the venue by public transport.
A café service is available, and you can book a set menu for lunch after the activity (at an additional cost) .

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
