Get ready to sharpen your senses.
Get to know the secrets of EVOO with a 360-degree experience in Pulpí, Almería, thanks to Oleo Almanzora: walk through one of its olive groves, visit its facilities and take part in a sensory tasting masterclass.
After a blind tasting guided by an expert EVOO taster, you will be ready to be surprised by the nuances of their 2 single-varietal EVOOs and a range of 8 flavoured EV OOs.
What we will do
We will meet at the Oleo Almanzora shop in Pulpí, about 10 minutes before the booked time. There we will be welcomed by the expert EVOO tasting guide who will accompany us to discover the liquid gold of Almeria.
Following the guide, we will travel in our own vehicles to one of the olive groves, located about 4 km away, to learn first-hand about the origin of the olives. We will take a short walk among the olive trees and learn the keys to the super-intensive planting system and how it differs from more traditional planting systems.
On the way back, we will tour the facilities to follow the olive's journey to bottling and to our table. We will visit areas such as the cellar and the bottling plant, learning the complete process of production, filtering, preservation in the cellar and bottling, supported by explanatory panels. If it is harvest time (between the end of September and the beginning of October) , we will be lucky enough to see some of the stages, such as the harvester or the filter, live.
We will then give way to a real sensory tasting masterclass. Following the guide's explanations during a blind tasting with 3 different oils, we will learn to perceive and distinguish their characteristics like true professionals, understanding the importance of this tasting for their commercial classification. Once the palate has been trained, we will taste the 2 single-varietal AOVEs of the house, arbequina and koroneiki, and the range of 8 aromatised oils accompanied by bread and seasonal pairings.
The experience will last approximately 3 hours.

The visit can be adapted for people with reduced mobility and wheelchair users, although please inform the activity leaders at least 24 hours in advance. You will receive the contact details in the booking confirmation email.

The visit can be done all year round and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 adults.
It is advisable not to have smoked or drunk coffee at least 2 hours before the experience, in order to have our sense of smell and taste in perfect condition for tasting.

Both the estate and the tasting room are pet-friendly, but pets are not allowed in the winery.
Accompanying persons not participating in the experience can wait in the tent area or in the courtyard.
Free public parking is available in the vicinity of the premises. It is not possible to reach the area by public transport.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
