Full description
To really understand "liquid gold", it is best to go where it is born.
Follow the path of the olive from the field to your table with this visit to a modern olive oil mill in Bailén. You'll learn how one of the best olive oils in the world is produced: the extraction process, decanting, bottling. .. And you will be able to participate in the tasting of 2 early types of EVOO.
Finally, a small gastronomic experience in the restaurant Aureum by Picualia. An experience full of flavour.
What we will do
The guide will welcome us at the olive mill located in Bailén, Jaén, 5 minutes before the start of the visit. With a brief introduction we will learn about the history of this cooperative formed today by more than 1, 000 farmer-members with a common goal: to produce extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality.
We will start the visit in the courtyard of the mill, where we will see how the olives are received and washed when they arrive from the fields. Afterwards, we will enter the modern facilities to follow the entire production process: extraction area, decanting, cellar and bottling. We will understand, step by step, how the olives are transformed into a superior quality EVOO.
In the tasting room we will taste 2 early extra virgin olive oils. We will learn how to taste correctly in the glass, what to look for in the aroma and flavour and what are the organoleptic properties and characteristics that define each of the oils. It will be the perfect moment to calmly savour the liquid gold of Jaén.
To finish, we will enjoy a small aperitif of 2 cold tapas prepared by the restaurant of the oil mill, included in the Michelin Guide 2024, and a drink of your choice (soft drink, beer or glass of wine) .
The experience will last approximately 2 hours, of which 1 hour and a half will be dedicated to the visit.

The visit is available all year round and is made with a minimum of 2 people.
