Senda do Santo via ferrata in Cedeira

If you thought Galicia didn’t have enough to offer for climbing amongst bolts and steel cables, get ready: Galicia’s first via ferrata awaits you, with the ocean at your feet.

Clip in your carabiners and set off to conquer the rock face in A Coruña on a thrilling 2- to 3-hour adventure. Devour the iron rungs as you gain height above the void, test your nerve crossing an aerial single-plank bridge and climb an ingenious ladder bridge suspended in the air. You choose the adrenaline level: tackle an accessible section or go all out, whizzing along the 45-metre zip line and taking on a challenging K4 overhang against the backdrop of the San Andrés de Teixido cliffs . Accompanied by a qualified guide, you’ll be provided with all the necessary equipment and a souvenir photo report.

What we will do

We’ll meet at the agreed time at the meeting point in Meizoso, in the municipality of Cedeira, A Coruña. There, our qualified guide will meet us to welcome us and provide us with our safety equipment: harness, helmet, energy absorber, belay rope and technical gloves. We’ll start with an explanatory briefing lasting around 15–20 minutes, during which we’ll go over how to use carabiners, safety guidelines and the technique for climbing the wall.

With our equipment fitted, we’ll set off on a 10-minute walk along an uphill path to the base of the wall, where the action begins. We’ll start climbing the ‘Senda do Santo’ route, tackling an initial vertical section with fixed bolts to gain height with ease. Once past this ledge, we’ll traverse horizontally across the rock until we reach the first suspension bridge, sliding along steel cables to find ourselves immediately facing the route’s greatest visual challenge: an ingenious ladder bridge spanning the void.

We’ll continue climbing along walkways and using fixed bolts until we reach the key point of the route, where the itinerary will continue according to the option chosen when booking. Those who have opted for the section without the zip line will end their climb here and set off down the path on foot. On the other hand, for those who have booked the full, more adrenaline-fuelled option , the challenge will continue at full throttle: we’ll launch ourselves down a thrilling 45-metre zip line spanning the void and tackle the most technical section of the wall, a strenuous K4 overhang that will test your arm strength before reaching the summit.

Once at the top, and after savouring the challenge whilst taking in the panoramic views of the rugged coastline, we’ll begin our return journey by walking down a gentle path back to the vehicles.

The activity will last approximately 2 to 3 hours in total, depending on the sections chosen.

Who it is aimed at

There is no set minimum age. To take part in the activity, participants must weigh at least 40 kg and no more than 120 kg.

Children under the age of 18 must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The experience is suitable for beginners of average fitness.

It is not recommended for people who suffer from vertigo or a severe fear of heights.

This experience is not suitable for pregnant women or participants with reduced mobility.

Other information

The activity is available every day of the year, subject to favourable weather conditions. You must confirm the timetable in advance with the organiser, as there may be changes due to the weather.

A minimum of 2 participants is required to run the session, and a maximum of 6 people are allowed per session.

Free parking is available directly at the meeting point. There are no regular public transport links.

Pets are not permitted on the activity, and there are no facilities available for leaving them in care.
