Who said you had to go on a rollercoaster to get that tingling feeling in your stomach?
In the Hermida Gorge, very close to the Picos de Europa National Park, the El Milar via ferrata awaits you . A short but exhilarating route that will challenge your senses as you tackle vertical walls, horizontal crossings with overhangs and a spectacular zip line that will have you soaring over the River Deva. Accompanied at all times by a qualified mountain guide, you’ll enjoy 3. 5 hours of an unforgettable experience, taking in unique landscapes and experiencing the thrill in complete safety.
What we will do
We’ll meet 15 minutes before the scheduled time at the meeting point in San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria. The mountain guide who will be accompanying us on this adventure will be waiting for us there , and we’ll be given all the safety equipment (helmet, harness, fall arrest device and gloves) . We’ll then take part in a brief 10-minute briefing covering the key climbing techniques. With our carabiners ready, we’ll board the van and set off for the Hermida Gorge, a journey of around 40 minutes.
At the foot of the rock face, with the murmur of the River Deva in the background, we’ll embark on approximately 1½ hours of pure climbing, crossing a small bridge that will lead us to the first vertical wall. We’ll feel our hearts racing as we make our way along a horizontal section with a few overhangs where we’ll put our arms to the test, before tackling the final vertical stretch: a thrilling wall that rewards skill with its natural holds and few bolts. As we gain height, the majesty of the canyon and the National Park will treat us to an unbeatable backdrop.
But the grand climax is yet to come! After completing the vertical section, we’ll descend towards the riverbank to tackle the grand finale: a spectacular zip line that will take us flying directly over the waters of the River Deva, experiencing the pure sensation of speed as we float through the air.
With our adrenaline at its peak and the satisfaction of having overcome the challenge, we’ll set off on the return journey to the starting point. There, we’ll be able to get changed in comfort in the changing rooms whilst sharing the best stories of the day.
The activity will last approximately 3. 5 hours in total (including preparation) .
Who it is aimed at
This experience is suitable for those aged 14 and over; those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or provide a signed authorisation.
Participants must weigh at least 40 kg and no more than 120 kg.
The activity is not suitable for people who suffer from vertigo. It is also not suitable for pregnant women or people with reduced mobility.
The experience is of an easy level and suitable for a first via ferrata, making it ideal for both beginners and those with previous experience.
Pets are not permitted.

The experience takes place every day from March to November.
The tour is confirmed once a minimum of 2 participants has been reached, with a maximum group size of 6 people.
There is free and paid parking nearby. We do not recommend travelling to the meeting point by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
