Some people get their thrills from watching action films on the sofa, whilst others prefer to hang from a vertical cliff face in the heart of the countryside.
Embark on an adventure lasting a total of three and a half hours right in the heart of the Penyagolosa Natural Park! Take centre stage on a one-and-a-half-hour vertical ascent. Conquer the 100-metre vertical ascent of the La Muela via ferrata, make your way along 140 metres of rock face using clamps and handholds, and take in panoramic views of the Barranco de la Hoz under the supervision of qualified guides. It’s the perfect way to get your adrenaline pumping in the mountains and discover that the true spirit of Villahermosa del Río is best experienced by conquering the heights.
What we will do
We’ll meet at the agreed time at the meeting point in Montán, Castellón. There , we’ll meet our qualified guides, who will welcome us and provide us with all the necessary technical equipment: helmet, harness and via ferrata belay device, so we can start the day in complete safety.
Once kitted out, we’ll board the minibuses and head for Villahermosa del Río, venturing into the protected area of the Penyagolosa Natural Park. Upon reaching the foot of the “La Muela” cliff face, the instructors will give us on-site technical training to teach us how to use the fall arresters correctly, how to attach ourselves to the safety cables, and the guidelines for moving nimbly at height.
It’s time to gain some height and put our courage to the test! We’ll set off along the via ferrata for an hour and a half of vertical, high-altitude climbing. Along a 140-metre-long equipped route covering a vertical ascent of 100 metres, we’ll make our way up metal steps and rocky outcrops, enjoying spectacular panoramic views of the Barranco de la Hoz and looking down on the village of Villahermosa del Río at our feet.
After reaching the summit and descending back along the path, the minibus will collect us to take us on our way back to Montán. There, we’ll say goodbye to the team and collect our tickets to round off the adventure by relaxing in the thermal pools at Fuente de los Baños in Montanejos, bringing the total duration of the experience – including transfers, training and the climb – to three and a half hours.
Who it is aimed at
This is a Level K3 (Beginner / Moderate) activity: Suitable for beginners of average fitness.
This adventure is suitable for adults and children aged 8 and over.
Children must always be accompanied by an adult.
It is essential that you do not suffer from a fear of heights and do not have any recent injuries.
For safety reasons, the activity is not suitable for pregnant women or people with reduced mobility.

IMPORTANT: It is essential to contact the organisers in advance to confirm the exact meeting point in Montán.
The activity runs all year round, from Monday to Sunday, with fixed departure times at 09: 30 and 16: 30.
Tours are organised for groups of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 15 participants.
Free parking is available at the meeting point . We do not recommend travelling by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is strict. You get a full refund if you cancel within 15 days from the activity start date. Within 14 and 8 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
