Full description
Paddle along the ancient mouth of the Ebro and experience a gentle but unforgettable adventure in the tranquil Gola de Migjorn.
Surround yourself with wild nature as you paddle alongside the Illa de Buda, the largest island in Catalonia and one of the best-preserved wetlands in the Mediterranean. Explore this unique corner of the Ebro Delta on a 1 hour and a half SUP route, accompanied by an expert instructor. Learn, disconnect and enjoy... an experience suitable for all ages!
What we will do
The starting point will be the Illa de Buda boat crossing, better known as the siphon. We will meet there 15 minutes before the agreed time, leave the cars and get ready for the route. We'll pick up the equipment, and for at least 10 minutes we'll go over the basic SUP technique, and get to know the route we're going to do.
Once ready, we will paddle through the calm waters of the Gola de Migjorn, just where the Ebro meets the sea. We will go along the edge of the Illa de Buda, a protected area that is not accessible, but which is revealed in all its splendour from the water. You will see giant eucalyptus trees, rice fields, natural canals, flamingos and migratory birds.
During the tour, we will make small stops to enjoy the scenery and listen to the explanations of the expert monitor who will accompany us. He will tell us interesting facts about the fauna and flora of the Delta, the history of the Illa de Buda, the transformation of the landscape by the sediments of the river and the ecological importance of this wetland, considered one of the best preserved in the Mediterranean.
Our objective will be to reach the point where the Ebro used to flow into the river, now closed by sediment. There we will stop to rest, have a swim and choose: fresh water from the river or salt water from the sea?
Afterwards, we will paddle back along the same route, with a new look at everything that surrounds us.
In total it will be an hour and a half of connection with nature, learning, and total calm.
