Cave into the depths of Villanúa to discover what the Pyrenees mountains have to offer.
This level 1 caving experience in the Esjamundo cave is perfect for sharing a family moment. Guided by a specialist in speleology, you will learn the basics while you advance through horizontal galleries full of natural formations that will show you the beauty that water and time are capable of sculpting underground.
Two hours to explore, learn and enjoy in a safe and fascinating environment. A perfect first experience to fall in love with the underground world.
What we will do
We will meet at the agreed time in Villanúa, in the heart of the Huesca Pyrenees. The caving guide will be waiting for us there to give us the equipment and give us the first indications.
From the meeting point, a short approach of just five minutes will take us to the entrance of the Esjamundo cave. Before entering, we will have a brief briefing on how the activity will be carried out and the basic notions of underground progression. With helmet and headlamp ready, we will enter a completely horizontal cave, ideal for beginners in caving.
During the tour we will explore the bowels of the Pyrenees and go through the galleries, discovering how a cave is formed from the inside. We will see stalactites, stalagmites, columns and gours, while we learn to interpret the traces of water and the passage of time in the rock.
At the end of the visit, we will return along the same path to the exit, and in a few minutes we will be back at the starting point.
We will be inside the cave for about 2 hours and the whole activity lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is level 1, perfect as a first caving experience and can be done as a family.
Children from 5 years old can participate. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Important: participation is not recommended for people suffering from claustrophobia.
It is not a suitable experience for pregnant women or people with reduced mobility and a good health condition is required. If you have any doubts about the suitability of the activity, we advise you to consult your doctor.
Other information
The activity is available from March to November.
There are no changing rooms or lockers in which to leave valuables, which you will have to leave in the car.
The village is very close, so accompanying persons who do not participate with possible pets can wait in the area.
The photo/video service can be arranged directly with the guide with prior notice. You will receive the contact details in the booking confirmation email.
Free parking is available in the area. It is not possible to get there by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is moderate. You get a full refund if you cancel within 8 days from the activity start date. Within 7 and 5 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
