Full description

If you thought you had to travel to the Alps to see endless green landscapes and mountain meadows, welcome to the Ultzama Valley.

Hop on a two-seater quad bike and explore the lush landscapes of Arraitz-Orkin with a local guide on a tour lasting a total of two hours. You’ll climb up to the Belate Pass to take in the views of the Cantabrian coast, cross the beech woods of the Orgi Forest, and receive a free photo report as a gift. An adventure on wheels in the heart of nature!

What we will do

We’ll meet 10 minutes before the scheduled time at the meeting point in Arraitz-Orkin, Navarre. The local guide who will be with us throughout the trip will be waiting for us there. After introductions, we’ll be kitted out with approved helmets in our sizes and given a brief initial briefing on how to ride a quad bike safely.

Ready to set off, we’ll start our engines and embark on a varied route lasting at least 1 hour and 45 minutes, combining tarmac, dirt tracks and mountain trails. We’ll climb towards the iconic Puerto de Belate, a former border crossing between Pamplona and Bayonne, until we reach the Cantabrian watershed, from where we’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Ultzama, Baztan and Donamaría valleys, with a glimpse of the coast on clear days.

We’ll begin the descent by crossing meadows dotted with horses and cattle grazing freely, before venturing into dense beech forests similar to those of the Selva de Irati. We’ll skirt the Mycological Park and head into the Orgi Forest, a millennia-old reserve surrounded by beech and oak trees.

Along the way, the guide will point out landmarks of great cultural and historical significance, such as the Millennial Oak of Orkin and the Abauntz Cave, famous as the site where one of Europe’s oldest maps was discovered.

We’ll stop for 5 to 10 minutes to stretch our legs, take the souvenir photos included in the experience, and allow for a driver change if travelling with others. Satisfied with the tour, we’ll set off on the return journey to the starting point.

The activity will last a total of around 2 hours (including preparation time).
