Full description
Step on the accelerator and explore one of Huesca’s most breathtaking natural wonders!
On this 3-hour guided quad bike tour , setting off from Estopiñán del Castillo, you’ll head for the imposing Muralla de Finestres. You’ll follow mountain trails until you come face to face with this colossal limestone ridge overlooking the Canelles Reservoir. You’ll also round off the expedition by crossing the Penavera Bridge, taking a stroll through the deserted village of Finestres and enjoying a light snack.
What we will do
We’ll meet at the time stated at the meeting point in Estopiñán del Castillo, Huesca. Our specialist guide will be waiting for us there to kick off the day’s activities. After checking in, and following a brief introduction to the simple operation of the two-seater quad bikes and the safety rules, we’ll put on our helmets and set off.
We’ll start the engines and head out into the heart of the countryside on a route that’s 95 per cent off-road. We’ll make our way along forest tracks flanked by the Montsec hills until we reach the Penavera Bridge, where we’ll stop for about 10 minutes to admire the Guart River and the tail end of the Canelles Reservoir.
We’ll resume our off-road ride to the historic, uninhabited village of Finestres. We’ll leave the quad bikes behind for a moment to take a guided walking tour through its abandoned streets, discovering the secrets and rural past of its former inhabitants. From the stone houses, we’ll set off on a gentle walk to the Hermitage of San Marcos, the perfect vantage point overlooking the imposing rock formations of the Muralla de Finestres (or Roques de la Vila) .
Facing this colossal limestone ridge, we’ll stop for up to an hour to enjoy the surroundings, have a snack with water and soft drinks, and pose for some souvenir photos. Afterwards, we’ll set off on the return journey along the paths that skirt the Canelles Reservoir nature reserve.
The activity will last a total of around three and a half hours, including preparations and stops.
