Paragliding training flight over the beach of Sopelana

Learning to fly is not a dream. .. it's your plan for today.

Take off over Barinatxe Beach, in Sopelana, and discover how to handle a real paraglider while enjoying the best views of the Bay of Biscay. Before flying you will receive a brief theory session on the ground, and once in the air you will take the controls with the pilot's guidance, learning to feel the wind and control the wing.

A 35 minute experience that combines learning, adrenaline and spectacular scenery.

What we will do

We will meet at the agreed time at the meeting point on Barinatxe Beach, in Sopelana, one of the most spectacular spots on the Biscayan coast. Our adventure will begin right there: the take-off is very close, so we will walk together for 5 or 10 minutes along an asphalted path that climbs up to the cliff. As we gain altitude, the sound of the sea mixes with the breeze. .. and we start to feel that we are about to do something big.

Before flying, the pilots will meet us at the take-off area for a 10-minute theory session, where we will learn the basics of paragliding: how to control the wing, what movements to make in the air and how to harness the power of the wind. No previous experience is necessary, as everything is designed for those who want to take their first steps in paragliding.

Then it's time to get kitted out: helmet, harness, straps. .. and with everything ready, a few running steps will be enough to leave the ground behind. Once in the air, the pilot will give us instructions and technical explanations in real time, allowing us to take the controls and participate more actively in the flight. We will feel how the paraglider responds to our movements and how the wind becomes our best ally.

For about 20 minutes we will fly about 250 metres above the beach, enjoying the unique sensation of learning to fly over a breathtaking landscape. On one side, the waves break against the cliffs of the Flysch of Bizkaia; on the other, you can see the port of Bilbao, and if the day is clear, even the Urkiola Natural Park and Mount Gorbeia, the highest mountain in Bizkaia.

After the flight, we will descend gently to the sand and return to the meeting point with a smile on our faces and the feeling of having learned something really special: flying.

In total, the experience lasts approximately 35 minutes, including theory on the ground, preparations and the flight.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is designed for everyone, with a maximum weight of up to 110 kg.

Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

If you are a person with reduced mobility or in a wheelchair, you can take part in the activity. You just need to inform the organisers in advance. You will receive the contact details in the email confirming your booking.

The experience is not suitable for pregnant women.

If you have heart problems or any doubts about the suitability of the experience, it is recommended that you consult a doctor before taking part in the activity.

Important: the paragliding flight depends on weather conditions, so the place and time of take-off may vary. The pilot will contact you the day before to confirm the details. You will find his contact details in the booking confirmation email.

You can fly every day from March to October.

Accompanying persons and their pets can wait at the meeting point.

Paid parking is available at the meeting point. It is also possible to arrive by public transport.
