Discover what it's like to be an olive grower for a day.

Very close to Baeza an experience awaits you with which you can follow the olive's entire journey from the field to the packaging process. In the olive grove, you will learn how to "dress" the trees and "shake" the fruit. In the oil mill you will learn about the EVOO production process and you will be able to do a guided tasting of 3 early olive oils.

If you don't want to be left wanting more, choose the option with typical tapas. You will need something to recover your energy.

What we will do

The appointment will be 10 minutes before the booking time at the meeting point, very close to Baeza. There we will be met by one of the owners, an expert in olive oil tourism and oil production, who will welcome us and explain how the experience will unfold.

The adventure will start in the countryside. We will travel in our private cars to a nearby olive grove where we will be able to feel like real olive growers. Armed with traditional tools, we will learn how the olive trees are "dressed" and what is the perfect technique to "varear" in a symbolic olive harvest. It will be the perfect opportunity to get into the world of EVOO and learn more about the history of the area.

Following the usual olive path, we will return to the facilities: we will visit the reception yards and the olive cleaning and classification area, as well as the old olive mill dating back to 1927. We will then enter the modern plant to see the actual process step by step.

We will close the experience with a guided tasting of 3 early harvest EVOOs ; we will learn how to taste them like professionals, identifying the nuances and characteristics of each one:

• the authentic picual from Jaén, with fresh notes of freshly cut grass and tomato plants;
• the frantoio, with hints of dried fruit and apple;
• and the royal changlot, with hints of artichoke and aromatic herbs.

And if you want to discover more of the region's flavours, you can choose the option with typical tapas (seasoned olives, ochío piquitos, ham and cheese in oil, salmorejo, lomo de orza. .. ) with a drink (olive beer, Jaén wine, soft drink or water) .

The visit with tasting will last approximately 3 hours and a half to 4 hours.

The experience is suitable for everyone.

Both the olive mill and the surrounding olive grove are accessible to wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments.

Other information

The experience only takes place during the olive harvest season, October and November, and is confirmed when a minimum group of 2 people is reached.

It is possible to do the tour in English or French for a supplement.

There is also a restaurant at the olive-oil mill and it is possible to book a tasting meal with local products (23, 00 euros/person) . The minimum number of guests is 10 and the price is the same. There are free parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the mill. The area is not easy to reach by public transport.
