Full description

Did you know that some of the most sought-after and exclusive mushrooms in gastronomy grow in spring?

On this 4-hour tour, we’ll venture into the forests of the Serranía de Cuenca, Alto Tajo or the Sierra de Albarracín, accompanied by a qualified mycologist. We’ll learn how to search for, identify and select species such as morels, chanterelles and perrechico mushrooms. A thoroughly enjoyable experience for young and old alike.

What we will do

We’ll meet 10 minutes before the booked time at the meeting point, which, depending on the weather , could be in the Serranía de Cuenca, Alto Tajo or the Sierra de Albarracín. There, we’ll be met by our guide, who is qualified by the European Institute of Mycology. They’ll provide us with the necessary baskets and foraging tools and give us a brief introduction to the importance of sustainable foraging and respecting the countryside.

We’ll set off on foot into the forest to begin our guided walk amongst pine trees, meadows and streams. As we explore the different ecosystems, we’ll learn to keep our eyes peeled for the season’s hidden gems, such as the elegant morel, the coveted perrechico or the marzuelo. The guide will explain their growth habits, the keys to distinguishing edible species from poisonous ones, and the ecological secrets of nature’s reawakening.

At the end of the walk, we’ll gather all the specimens we’ve collected for a practical identification workshop. We’ll carefully classify each mushroom with the expert’s help to clear up any doubts and ensure that what we’ve selected is completely safe to eat. Each participant will be able to take their selection home to enjoy these spring flavours in the kitchen.

We’ll round off the experience after around 4 hours of mycological exploration.
