Leave your daily routine behind and get ready to experience one of the most beautiful kayaking trips in Cantabria.
Glide through San Vicente de la Barquera Bay in a kayak on a guided tour lasting 3 hours in total (including 2 hours of paddling) . You’ll paddle through the calm waters of the estuary whilst taking in the stunning panoramic view of the Picos de Europa in the background; you’ll stop halfway through the trip to enjoy a refreshing swim, and you’ll take home photos of the day to remember every stroke.
What we will do
We’ll meet 15 minutes before the scheduled time at the meeting point in San Vicente de la Barquera, in Cantabria. The guide who’ll be accompanying us on our excursion will be waiting for us there. They’ll welcome us and we’ll walk for just 2 minutes to the area where the boats are moored.
Once by the water’s edge, we’ll take part in a brief briefing during which the instructor will teach us how to handle the paddle, basic paddling techniques and safety guidelines. Having learnt the basics, we’ll put on our life jackets (and wetsuits, depending on the weather) and stow our belongings in the watertight container, which is also stocked with bottles of water.
We’ll climb into the kayaks and set off on our journey, paddling around the bay and its beaches. We’ll paddle for approximately 2 hours through the estuary, following the natural rhythm of the tides, discovering the estuary’s wildlife and admiring the imposing sight of the Picos de Europa rising on the horizon.
Halfway through the journey, we’ll stop for a refreshing swim in calm waters to recharge our batteries whilst the guide captures the experience in a photo report. With our energy renewed, we’ll resume paddling, taking in the Cantabrian coastline.
Finally, we’ll head back towards the jetty to disembark and walk back to the meeting point. The activity will last a total of 3 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for children aged 4 and over; under-age participants must be accompanied by a responsible adult .
It is an ideal introductory route for both first-time kayakers and those with previous experience.
You do not need to be able to swim, but it is advisable to be comfortable in the water. All participants must wear a life jacket at all times during the trip.
The maximum weight limit is 110 kg (in two-person kayaks, per pair of participants) .
This activity is not suitable for pregnant women, people in wheelchairs or those with reduced mobility.
Dogs are allowed on the trip. You must let us know in advance if you are bringing your pet.

Important: Please note that the times for this activity may vary depending on the tides or weather conditions, so you will need to check with the organisers in advance to arrange the exact departure time.
The experience takes place every day of the year (in morning or afternoon sessions, depending on the tide times) .
The tour is confirmed once a minimum of 2 participants has been reached.
There is free and paid parking in the immediate vicinity. We do not recommend using public transport to get to the meeting point.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
