Private weekend watching Iberian wolves in Zamora

Did you know that the Sierra de la Culebra in Zamora is one of the best places in the world to see the Iberian wolf?

In this private experience you will experience what others only see in documentaries. You will explore with expert guides, tracking routes, sighting stops at key points and all-inclusive rural accommodation.

What we will do

You will be welcomed on Friday afternoon at your rural accommodation in the province of Zamora (check-in from 15: 00 h) . There you will meet the guide, review the plan for the weekend and have time to settle in before starting the first activity: an introductory workshop on the Iberian wolf, its behaviour, its tracks, its social structure and its essential role in the ecosystems of the peninsula.

On the same day you will do the first waiting at dusk, the moment when the Sierra de la Culebra begins to come to life and the wolf starts its activity. Equipped with binoculars and telescopes, you will learn to interpret signals, listen to the environment and detect subtle movements among heather, oak woods and forest clearings. Afterwards you will return to your accommodation to enjoy dinner and rest.

Saturday will start early with a wait at dawn, the time of day when it is easiest to observe the Iberian wolf if nature decides to reward us. During the wait we will have breakfast and then we will go on a tracking route, learning to identify tracks, trails and other signs of their presence, as well as that of the rest of the fauna in the mountains. After lunch and a rest, we will go back out into the countryside for another wait until nightfall, a magical moment to observe other species such as deer, wild boar, roe deer, foxes, badgers and birds of prey such as golden eagles and vultures.

Sunday will start again with waiting for the sunrise and breakfast in the field, followed by a short interpretative route focused on tracks and behaviour. After lunch you will go to the Iberian Wolf Centre in Puebla de Sanabria, where a guided visit will allow you to know in depth its history, its delicate relationship with the human being and to observe some specimens in semi-freedom.

After the visit, you will return to your accommodation to pick up your luggage and conclude an exclusive weekend in one of the best places in the world to meet the Iberian wolf.

Who it is aimed at

This experience is designed for all nature and photography lovers, from beginners to advanced photographers . It is perfect for those who are looking for comfort, proximity to the guide and a totally personalised experience.

It is ideal for couples, families with children from 8 years old, or groups of friends.

Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The activity is not suitable for people with reduced mobility and wheelchair users.

The experience starts on Friday afternoon and ends on Sunday at noon.

Check-in is from 15: 00 h and check-out is at 11: 00 h. The meeting with the guide at the hotel will be at 16: 00.

The activity depends on nature: the observation of the Iberian wolf is not completely guaranteed, although the Sierra de la Culebra is one of the best places to see it.
