Full description
Stop arguing with your sat-nav to find your way to the latest cove and swap the steering wheel for the reins of a horse amongst the Montgrí wetlands.
Head for L’Estartit to enjoy a one-hour horse ride along flat, compacted earth tracks. Accompanied by a qualified guide who will tailor the route to your level of experience, you’ll ride past bird sanctuaries such as the iconic Bassa del Fra Ramón, learnt some practical riding skills along the way.
What we will do
We’ll meet 10 minutes before the agreed time at the meeting point in L’Estartit, Girona. On arrival at the centre, the team will welcome us and provide us with helmets. With the horses already saddled and ready, we’ll mount up straight away, ready to leave the tarmac behind and immerse ourselves in nature.
We’ll set off following the guide, who’ll accompany us on horseback throughout the entire route. The route runs along farm tracks and flat, compacted earth, with no stones or steep gradients, making the ride an ideal experience for relaxing and connecting deeply with the horse. As we ride at a leisurely pace, the instructor will share practical tips along the way: how to position your feet correctly in the stirrups, the proper way to hold the reins, and how to maintain good posture to make the most of the ride.
Little by little, we’ll venture into the green heart of the Montgrí Natural Park. The landscape will change to reveal the fascinating ecosystem of the wetlands. We’ll approach spots teeming with life, such as the Bassa del Fra Ramón, a stunning natural setting and a refuge for birds. From the backs of our horses, we’ll often be able to spot different species of waterfowl and migratory birds enjoying the lagoons in complete freedom. (The specific route will be adapted to the conditions on the day and the group’s pace to ensure the best possible experience at all times) .
Once we have completed the leisurely circuit, we will return to the starting point. There, we will dismount and say goodbye to our equine companions after sharing an experience lasting a total of one hour, taking with us the unforgettable image of the Costa Brava’s vibrant natural landscape as a lasting memory.
