Horse riding, wine tasting and tapas in the Sierra de Gredos near Madrid

Trade asphalt for trails and barrels in a day that combines the freedom of the valley with the flavour of a historic winery.

Enjoy a 4-hour experience in Cadalso de los Vidrios, in the heart of the Sierra de Gredos, which begins with a horseback ride through the landscapes of the Tórtolas Valley and continues within the walls of an emblematic winery. You will learn first-hand how the wines of these lands are made and you will put the finishing touch with a tasting of 3 local varieties along with a traditional tapas of the area.

What we will do

We will meet about 5 minutes in advance for our first activity of the day, a horse ride that will start at 10: 00h at the riding school in Cadalso de los Vidrios . The horses will already be waiting for us saddled and ready, but before getting into the stirrup, we will spend about 10 minutes to get to know each other, equip ourselves with helmets and receive some basic notions of handling so that we feel completely confident during the route.

Once ready, we will ride for 50 minutes through the Tórtolas Valley. On the back of our four-legged friends, we will cross orchards, streams and pine forests that outline the landscape of the Sierra de Gredos, enjoying the silence that is only broken by the passing of the horses. At the end of the route, you will have 1 hour of freedom so that the pace does not slow down: it is the perfect break to get lost in the historic centre of the village and discover its Roman and medieval soul. The riding school is about 3 km from the winery, so a short drive will take you to our next stop.

At noon, at 12: 00h, the tour of the winery begins, where we will learn step by step about the winemaking process. We will pass through the grape reception area, the fermentation areas and the concrete tanks, until we reach the barrel room, where the aroma of wood and wine envelops everything.

After the visit, it will be time to enjoy a tasting of D. O. Vinos de Madrid. We will taste an artisan vermouth, a white wine and a vibrant red wine. The experience is completed with a local tapas including cheese, cold meat or chorizo, depending on the day. It will be the perfect moment to discuss sensations, toast and let the wine speak for itself.

In total, we will enjoy 4 hours of total immersion between the wild nature of Gredos and the flavour of a millenary tradition.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for everyone from 16 years old. No previous riding experience is necessary.

For safety and animal welfare reasons, the maximum weight allowed is 130 kg.

Minors will not take part in the tasting; instead, they will enjoy a refreshment with an aperitif. Please inform the organisers in advance. You will find the contact details in the booking confirmation email.

Not suitable for pregnant women or people with reduced mobility or in wheelchairs.

Other information

The activity is available from November to July. It usually takes place on Saturdays.

The horse ride starts at 10: 00h and the visit to the winery begins at 12: 00h.

There is a distance of 3 km between the riding school and the winery. It is necessary to have a vehicle to make this journey.

Free parking is available at the winery.

It is not recommended to arrive at the meeting point by public transport.

The horse ride is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants and a maximum of 10. During the visit to the winery, the maximum number of participants is 40.

The local tapas includes local products. If you have any food intolerance, please let the organisers know in advance so that they can offer you alternatives.
