Full description
Who needs an amusement park when you have the Peña Montañesa?
Combine a mountain route with a 400-metre climb up the north ridge and paraglide down over one of the wildest landscapes in the Pyrenees. Between rock, wind and endless views, you will discover what it means to live the mountain to the fullest.
A 6 to 8 hour experience only suitable for adventurers who want more.
What we will do
We will meet at the agreed time in Aínsa, in Huesca, the starting point of this triple adventure that combines hiking, climbing and paragliding. The guide will meet us there to welcome us, check the equipment and explain how the day will unfold.
The first part will be a mountain approach walk, lasting about 2 hours, which will take us to the start of the north ridge of the Peña Montañesa, a line of about 400 metres of easy climbing. The route is somewhat physically demanding, so it is recommended for people with previous experience in mountaineering and climbing.
During the ascent, we will advance through aerial and panoramic terrain, combining stretches of ridge with small vertical sections of compact limestone rock. The views are spectacular: from here we can see the Monte Perdido massif, Cotiella and Posets-Maladeta, an authentic postcard of the Aragonese Pyrenees. As we ascend, the landscape opens up in all directions, and the atmosphere becomes increasingly epic.
Once at the summit, we will take a break to regain our strength, enjoy lunch and contemplate the 360º views of Sobrarbe, a place that many call the "balcony of the Pyrenees". But the best is yet to come.
From the summit we will descend towards the southern slope until we reach the take-off area, green meadows that end at the edge of the rocky cliffs. After the final checks, the pilot will give us the instructions and. .. let's fly!
For 30 to 40 minutes we will fly over one of the most impressive landscapes in the Pyrenees: the walls of the Peña Montañesa, the villages of Oncins and Ceresa, and the Monastery of San Victorián, considered one of the oldest in the peninsula. If we are lucky, we will share the sky with vultures, Egyptian vultures or bearded vultures, flying freely over Sobrarbe.
The landing takes place again in Aínsa, closing an unforgettable day of 6 to 8 hours, where each stage offers a different perspective of this legendary mountain.
