Hiking and paragliding over Ibón del Sen

Ready to discover a corner of the Pyrenees that seems to be taken from another world?

Combine a mountain hike to the Ibón del Sen, a glacial lake hidden among the peaks of the Eristes massif, with a 20-40 minute paragliding flight over the Chistau valley and the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park.

A 4 to 5 hour experience between trails, geology and the pure sky of the Pyrenees.

What we will do

We will meet at the agreed time in the village of Plan, in the heart of the Chistau Valley, where we will be met by our mountain and nature guide. After a brief welcome and equipment check, we will drive for about 30 minutes to the starting point of the trail.

The day begins with a guided hiking route of between 1 and a half and 2 and a half hours, ascending some 750 metres of positive difference in altitude to reach the Ibón del Sen, a spectacular glacial lake hidden in the Eristes massif. During the ascent, the guide - a geologist and naturalist - will explain the geological history of the valley, the formation of the lakes and interesting facts about the flora and fauna of the area. We will walk between streams, alpine meadows and waterfalls, with privileged views of the Cotiella massif and the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park.

When we reach the lake, we will stop to rest, have something to eat and enjoy this solitary and wild corner of the Pyrenees. The silence, the mountains and the reflection of the water create a simply magical setting.

Afterwards, we will continue walking for about 15 minutes more to the take-off area, a wide meadow with the perfect slope to take off. The pilots will give us the basic safety and flight instructions, we will adjust the equipment and, after a few running steps, the big moment will arrive: we take off over the Ibón del Sen!

For 20 to 40 minutes we will enjoy a spectacular flight with 1, 350 metres of vertical drop, flying over the glacial cirque, the Chistau valley and, if the conditions allow it, making a thermal flight to gain altitude and contemplate the Eristes chain, the Posets and the high mountain lakes from a unique perspective.

Finally, we will land gently back in the valley, closing a 4 to 5 hour experience that combines hiking, nature and free flight in one of the most authentic and less travelled corners of the Aragonese Pyrenees.

Who it is aimed at

This experience is designed for mountain and adventure lovers. No previous paragliding experience is required, but you do need to have a moderately active lifestyle.

It is not recommended for pregnant women, people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users.

The minimum age is 12 years (or 35 kg minimum weight) , and minors must be accompanied by an adult or have a signed authorisation.

The maximum weight allowed to fly is 120 kg.

Other information

The activity takes place from June to October (inclusive) , every day of the week.

The total duration of the experience is 4 to 5 hours, depending on the rate of ascent and wind conditions.

The flight includes video and photographs, which you will receive within 24 hours.

Parking is available at the meeting point.

Pets are not allowed.
