Did you know that Spain’s last Inquisitor lived in an ancient palace which today houses 15th-century underground cellars?
Travel back in time and discover the country’s oldest working winery in Ponzano, Huesca. Enjoy a one-hour guided tour of the Somontano Designation of Origin, where you’ll explore historic cellars steeped in over 500 years of tradition. A tour brimming with culture and flavour, culminating in a tasting of five mid-range and premium wines, paired with a delicious platter of local cheeses and cured meats. Let yourself be captivated by the soul of this land!
What we will do
We’ll meet at the agreed time at the meeting point at Bodegas Osca, in Ponzano, right in the heart of the Somontano region. After a warm welcome, our expert wine-growing guide will show us around this historic site, and we’ll begin a fascinating tour of Spain’s oldest working winery.
We’ll start the tour by admiring the view of the vineyards through the large windows, just 10 metres away, whilst discovering the rich history of the ancient palace where the country’s last Inquisitor once resided. We’ll then descend the stairs to the spectacular cellars and underground galleries dating back to 1480. We’ll walk amongst hundreds of oak barrels, surrounded by centuries-old stone walls, breathing in the aroma of fine ageing and learning how these renowned signature wines are crafted using traditional methods.
To round off the visit in style, we’ll settle into the tasting area for a comprehensive guided tasting of five selected wines (whites, rosés, crianza and reserva wines from the mid-range and premium categories) . We’ll pair each glass with a delicious platter of cheeses and assorted charcuterie, discussing the nuances and aromas of each variety. After enjoying this unforgettable pairing, we’ll bring the experience to a close, having shared around an hour of pure winemaking tradition.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for all ages.
The minimum age for the wine tasting is 18. Children aged between 6 and 17 may accompany adults on the tour and join in the light refreshments.
Children must always be accompanied by an adult.
The underground area contains flights of stairs and is not accessible to wheelchair users or those with reduced mobility (who may, however, access and enjoy the tasting on the main floor) .
Pets are not permitted inside the winery, although there is a designated shaded area 10 metres from the premises.
Other information
The activity is available all year round, from Monday to Friday (from 10. 00 to 13. 00 and from 16. 30 to 18. 00) and on Saturday mornings (from 10. 00 to 13. 00) . It is closed on Sundays and public holidays, except for groups of more than 10 people by prior arrangement.
The tour is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants and a maximum of 16.
The winery has free car park facilities.
Free parking is available just 5 to 10 metres from the entrance. We do not recommend travelling by public transport due to the infrequent service.
As the activity takes place inside the winery and in underground galleries, it is not affected by the weather (making it an excellent refuge from the heat during the summer months) .
The light refreshments include local produce. If you have any food intolerances, please notify the organisers in advance so that alternatives can be provided.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
