Full description
If you think you need a special machine to travel through time, it’s because you’ve never paddled beneath a Templar castle on Catalonia’s most majestic river.
Enjoy a shared experience lasting up to 4 hours in total, kayaking along the most famous and spectacular stretch of the River Ebro, between Miravet and Benifallet. Accompanied by qualified instructors, you’ll glide gently with the current, surrounded by lush riverside forests, impressive meanders and landscapes steeped in history linked to the Battle of the Ebro. A fully accessible, peaceful and safe adventure, ideal for breaking away from the daily grind and connecting with the Terres de l’Ebre – no previous experience required. Grab your paddle and let yourself be carried away!
What we will do
We’ll meet at the designated meeting point in Miravet, Tarragona, at the agreed time . There , our professional guides will welcome us and we’ll go over the itinerary before heading towards the beautiful riverbank to leave the tarmac behind and start enjoying nature.
Our instructors will provide us with all the necessary technical equipment: lightweight paddles, ergonomic backrests for paddling in complete comfort, and the compulsory lifejackets. We will also be given one waterproof bag per boat. Just before we get into the water, we’ll have a brief briefing on basic paddling techniques and safety rules.
We’ll set off straight away to begin our shared river descent towards Benifallet. We’ll make our way at a very leisurely pace, drifting with the current on generally calm waters, allowing us to enjoy the Ribera d’Ebre with hardly any physical effort. During the trip, the guide will reveal the secrets of the Templar castle at Miravet, which is reflected in the water; they will tell us about the strategic importance of this area during the Civil War; and they will teach us how to identify the birds that inhabit the green forests along the riverbanks.
We’ll glide gently into the finishing jetty, completing a kayak trip of approximately two and a half hours – bringing the total experience to four hours, including the initial preparations, the technical briefing and the river journey. Once back on dry land in Benifallet, we’ll organise ourselves with the team to round off this fantastic and relaxing nature getaway, saying goodbye to the instructors with our batteries fully recharged and a big smile on our faces after having experienced the Ebro at its most authentic.
