Full description

There are corners of the Duratón that time has sculpted only to be seen from the water.

Leave the beaten paths behind and enter the heart of the Hoces del Duratón Natural Park to discover, with an expert guide, the most exclusive stretch between the Monasterio de la Hoz and the Ermita de San Frutos. A 3. 5-hour guided route designed for small groups, where you will sail under the highest walls of the canyon while observing up close the largest breeding colony of griffon vultures in Europe.

What we will do

Our adventure begins 10 minutes before the agreed time at the municipal swimming pool complex in Fuenterrebollo, Segovia. After welcoming us, we will meet the instructor-guide who will accompany us throughout the trip. From here we will move to the embarkation point, where we will feel that first contact with the river while we get ready to enter one of the most protected areas of Segovia.

Before jumping into the water, we will dedicate 10 to 15 minutes to a quick introductory course. The guide will teach us the basic handling of the paddle, how to correctly adjust the life jacket and, most importantly, the rules of behaviour that we must follow when navigating in a nature reserve. It is essential to understand that we are guests in a delicate environment, so respect for the wildlife and the landscape is our absolute priority.

Once in the kayak, we will enter the heart of the Natural Park, crossing the virgin stretch between the Monasterio de la Hoz and the Ermita de San Frutos. During the route, we will paddle under limestone rock walls that rise vertically beside us, offering a perspective that can only be enjoyed from the water. It is here that the guide will help us to locate the breeding areas of griffon vultures, allowing us to observe Europe's largest colony in the wild at close quarters.

The total duration of the experience is about 3. 5 hours, a perfect time to soak up the history and geology of the canyon without rushing. At the end of the tour, we will return to the base to close a day of exploration along the most spectacular stretch of the Duratón.
