Full description

Add an international highlight to your adventure record and paddle across the border on a route that connects Spain and Portugal!

Enjoy a 3-hour guided kayak trip on the Guadiana River, departing from Ayamonte. Accompanied by qualified guides, you'll paddle downstream through the San Bruno Marshes, explore unspoilt sandy islands at the mouth of the river and cross to the beautiful Portuguese cove of Ponta da Areia- a unique experience full of nature, bird watching and incredible naval stories of Vikings, Romans and historical battles!

What we will do

We will meet 10 minutes before the booked time at the meeting point in the picturesque fishing village of Barriada de Canela, in Ayamonte. After a welcome from the guides - qualified instructors and professional lifeguards - we will attend a brief technical briefing on land and equip ourselves with the kayaks (double, triple or single on request) , paddles, comfortable backrests, life jackets and a watertight bag for each boat.

Once on the water, we will start the descent of the Guadiana river , taking advantage of the tidal current and the favourable wind so that the paddling is suitable for everyone. We will enjoy the spectacular views of the marshes on the Spanish bank and the beautiful Portuguese town of Vila Real de Santo António on the other bank, before entering the natural labyrinth of the Marismas de San Bruno, an unspoilt environment full of birds.

We will go out to the mouth of the Guadiana to make a strategic stop at its natural beaches and protected dunes, the perfect spot for a fun and refreshing swim. We will then cross the river border into Portugal to stop at the beautiful cove of Ponta da Areia, where we can relax and have a drink at its unique seaside bar.

Along the way, we will discover the fascinating naval history of the region through tales of the passage of the Phoenicians, Vikings, Romans and legendary battles that took place in these waters. Finally, we will return in a circular route to the starting point in Canela, concluding a fantastic international adventure of 3 hours in total (including preparations and stops) with our batteries recharged.
