Full description
If you thought family days out meant cramming into a bus, get ready to take the wheel of a four-seater buggy.
Accompanied by a professional guide, you’ll set off from Yaiza on a journey lasting a total of 3 hours. You’ll cover 60 kilometres along dirt tracks and back roads, passing through Timanfaya National Park and the vineyards of La Geria, with strategic stops at the Los Hervideros caves and a traditional winery.
An off-road expedition to experience the island as a team!
What we will do
We’ll meet at the specified time at the meeting point in Yaiza, Lanzarote. Our professional guide, who will be accompanying us on our excursion, will be waiting for us there. After the initial introductions, he will hand out dust-protection goggles and give us a detailed explanation of how to operate the automatic buggy and the safety rules for the route.
With the engines running, we’ll set off on a 60-kilometre route comprising 60 per cent tarmac inter-town roads and 40 per cent rural dirt tracks. We’ll leave the base behind to head into the Uga region and skirt the iconic Timanfaya National Park alongside the Volcanoes Natural Park, where the volcanic landscape changes with every kilometre.
We’ll travel in convoy through traditional villages such as Tinajo, Tinguatón, Masdache, Montaña Blanca and the town of Yaiza itself. The route will take us towards the coast at Los Hervideros, a natural formation of caves sculpted by lava where the ocean crashes against the basalt rocks (stop subject to weather or traffic conditions) .
We’ll continue our journey into the heart of La Geria, the famous wine-growing region characterised by its unique conical pits set against a backdrop of black ash. There, we’ll make a main stop of around 20 to 25 minutes at a traditional winery – the perfect time to rest, use the facilities, learn about the secrets of local viticulture and browse the shop and restaurant.
With our energy renewed and our eyes filled with volcanic landscapes, we’ll take the wheel one last time to set off on the return journey along secondary tracks back to the starting point.
The activity will last a total of 3 hours.
