Full description

Conquer abseiling in the challenging descents of the Chimoche Canyon, surrounded by the incomparable nature of the Orotava Valley.

This 6-hour dry canyoning adventure will allow you to marvel at the views of the valley, the spectacular rock formations of Los Órganos and the lush endemic flora. The Chimoche dry canyon has several 20-metre vertical drops. Glide down its slopes while surrounded by untouched nature.

Throw your adrenaline into exciting and unforgettable descents!

What we will do

The guide will be waiting for us 15 minutes before the booking time at the meeting point in La Orotava, near the Teide National Park.

We will travel by car to the Caldera Recreational Area, which is 5 minutes away (we can take our own car or travel with the guide if we have arrived by bus). There we will be given the equipment: helmet, harness and gloves before starting the approach on foot . We will walk for about 45 minutes to the beginning of the ravine: 6 km of pleasant walking in the middle of nature.

The Barranco de Chimoche is a dry canyon made of basaltic rock and has several vertical drops that, in some cases, exceed 20 metres. It is surrounded by abundant pine trees and endemic vegetation. During the approach, we will enjoy the spectacular views of the Orotava Valley and we will see the incredible geological formations of Los Órganos.

As soon as we reach the ravine, we will dedicate a few minutes to a technique workshop to learn how to descend the ravine in complete safety. We will descend the canyon in a controlled way: we will test ourselves with different abseilings with safety rope, the biggest of them up to 28 metres! At the end of the descent, we will return approximately 1 km, about 10 minutes on foot, to get back to the car park of the Caldera Recreational Area.

The total distance inside the canyon will be approximately 6 km and we will cross a difference in height of 250 metres.

In total, the activity will last about 6 hours, of which 4/5 hours inside the canyon (time calculated for a group of 6 people).
