Full description
From castle to castle and back again. The game wasn't exactly like that... but with this kayak route you can let the current take you gently.
Surrounded by peace and quiet, you'll enjoy 2.5 hours immersed in nature and discover the scenes of great historical events that will take you back in time.
Explore one of the most beautiful stretches of the Ebro River, starting near the castle of Móra d'Ebre and finishing under the castle of Miravet. Let the calm wash over you!
What we will do
Our meeting point will be at the Móra la Nova jetty, where the instructors will welcome us punctually.
We will spend the first half hour getting ready and learning the basics of kayaking and how to do the activity in complete safety. We will get into the kayaks following the instructions of the monitors and we will start our route.
We will be surprised by the silence and calm of this stretch where the Ebro flows calmly, but with enough current to facilitate our descent. And in this way, we will also flow calmly, immersed in nature and admiring the vegetation and the islands along the route.
The first part of the route features the arcades of the Pont Vell de Móra d'Ebre and the island of Galatxo, imposing as seen from the river. While they explain curiosities about the flora and fauna of the surroundings, we will discover the natural port that gave access to the Ebro from the Iberian settlement of Castellet de Banyoles.
We will continue the descent through scenes of the historic Battle of the Ebro, discovering anecdotes about the Civil War. Downstream, the villages of Ginestar and Benissanet will watch over us from both banks, and we will stop on one of the islands to rest, have something to eat or take a dip.
On the last stretch we will see the historic Pas de Barca de Miravet, the last river ferry on the Ebro that still works without an engine, and we will pass by the island of Tamarigar, the natural habitat of countless birds. To complete the route, we will arrive at the foot of Miravet castle, of Arab origin and of great historical value as it was the seat of the Templars.
The route will take a total of 2. 5 hours.
