Are you one of those who can't resist a piece of cheese? Then get ready.
Right in the centre of Santiago de Compostela, you can discover the secrets of the Prestes de Vilalba Cheese Factory through a tasting of some of its best cheeses, paired with a carefully selected selection of Galician wines.
Galicia is synonymous with good gastronomy, come and savour tradition.
What we will do
We will arrive 10 minutes before the reservation time at the meeting point in Santiago de Compostela.
Ahead, the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the world of Quesería Prestes, an emblematic family business with roots in Vilalba (Lugo) that since 1991 has managed to raise the Galician tradition to the most prestigious international podiums.
Accompanied by an expert guide, we will start a guided tasting of 5 cheeses. We will learn about the history of the cheese factory and the secrets that have led them to win 14 World Cheese Awards. We will taste some pieces that are a must of the house, with the unmistakable smoky touch of the iconic San Simón da Costa DOP, the creaminess of the Galician country cheese or the audacious blue cheese Lara & Sara. A spicy paprika de la Vera and a cured cow's cheese complete the selection.
To make the experience a rounded one, we will accompany these bites with 3 Galician wines that will highlight each nuance on the palate, adapting to the proposal. We will taste varieties such as Ribeiro blanco, Albariño de las Rías Baixas and Mencía DO; while we discover their origins and the keys to a perfect pairing.
The experience will have a total duration of approximately 1 hour and a half.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is designed for adults only. Minors may enter the premises free of charge, but are not entitled to participate in the tasting.
Pregnant women may replace the wines with a non-alcoholic drink.
There are a couple of steps to enter the premises. People with motor disabilities or in wheelchairs may enter with the assistance of an accompanying person.

The experience is available all year round and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants.
We will taste 5 cheeses from Quesería Prestes, a family business in the town of San Simón, in Vilalba (Lugo) . Prestes was founded in 1991, producing the first pieces of its star product: San Simón da Costa. Since then, the company has grown without losing respect for tradition and raw materials, and has received several international awards, including 14 World Cheese Awards.
The cheeses may change according to the production of each season and will be paired with 3 Galician wines, which will also vary to suit the proposal (Ribeiro, Albariño, Mencía. .. ).
It is not possible to offer alternatives for people with allergies or intolerances.
The venue is pet-friendly.
There is a paid car park near the meeting point. It is also possible to get there by bus, the bus stop is about 8 minutes walk away.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
