Guided caving tours in the caves of the Ricote Valley and the surrounding area

On this group expedition lasting up to 3 hours, you’ll venture into the geological heart of the Ricote Valley, leaving the surface behind to learn how to abseil, climb over boulders and make your way through narrow natural passages whilst discovering colossal, ancient limestone formations. It’s an exciting route that can be fully tailored to your group’s ability, guided from start to finish by qualified instructors.

What we will do

We’ll meet at the agreed time at the meeting point in Blanca, Murcia. There , we’ll meet our instructors, who will welcome us and provide a comprehensive theoretical and practical explanation of the essential techniques for abseiling, progression and underground safety. After receiving and fitting our personalised equipment, depending on the activity we chose at the time of booking, we’ll organise ourselves to drive in our own cars to the start of the approach.

We’ll arrive in the natural surroundings of the Ricote Valley or its neighbouring areas, where the specific cave will be selected based on the group’s skills and ability level. Once at the entrance, we’ll switch on our torches and venture deep into the Earth, leaving the outside world behind. During an hour and a half of pure underground exploration, we’ll learn the ropes of this sport in a really fun way: we’ll abseil down vertical walls, climb over boulders and tackle the exciting challenge of making our way through small holes and narrow, dry natural tunnels.

We’ll make our way step by step, marvelling at the colossal geological structures and ancient limestone formations that adorn the hidden chambers of the cave. This shared experience will push us to surpass ourselves with every vertical ascent and to forge closer bonds with our fellow participants.

We’ll return to the surface with an extra burst of energy and the satisfaction of having conquered Murcia’s underground world. We’ll round off this epic day—lasting around two and a half to three hours in total, including preparations and the technical activity—by saying goodbye to the guides with unforgettable memories.

Who it is aimed at

The experience is suitable for everyone; you don’t need any prior knowledge of caving.

The minimum age to take part is 16 ( minors must always be accompanied by an adult) .

It is essential that you do not suffer from claustrophobia or vertigo, as we will be moving through enclosed spaces and narrow passages and will be abseiling.

For safety reasons and due to technical equipment certification, the maximum weight allowed for participation is 100 kg.

This activity is not suitable for pregnant women, wheelchair users or participants with reduced mobility.

Other information

The experience is available at weekends throughout the year, except in July and August.

The tour is confirmed subject to a minimum of 4 people (maximum 6 participants per group) .

Free parking is available at the meeting point. There is no direct public transport to the meeting point.

Pets are not permitted.

The equipment included will depend on the option chosen at the time of booking: hand-held torch only (option without equipment) , or a full set of technical caving and progression equipment (option with equipment)

• Comfortable hiking or sportswear that you don’t mind getting dirty
