Full description
The Pyrenees are home to majestic landscapes… even underground!
Get ready for a caving expedition in the Seso Cave, in Boltaña. Accompanied by a professional guide, you’ll set off on an approach trek to venture deep into the earth’s depths and discover a completely unspoilt underground world. An experience steeped in geological history, just a stone’s throw from the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park.
Don’t settle for what meets the eye.
What we will do
The guide will meet us at the meeting point in Aínsa about 10 minutes before the scheduled time and, from there, will drive us to the starting point of the caving experience at the entrance to the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park.
Once there, we’ll put on our hiking boots to tackle a 30-minute approach walk. It’ll be an uphill walk along a quiet mountain path, ideal for warming up our legs whilst we admire the karst formations of the Geopark.
At the entrance to Seso Cave, we’ll go through some basic safety instructions, fasten our helmets securely and switch on our headlamps before venturing into a completely unspoilt realm. During the hour-and-a-half tour through this horizontal cavern, we’ll navigate a few narrow passages and the occasional puddle whilst discovering true mineral treasures: stalactites, columns, flowstones, gours and striking drapery formations. The guide’s presence will add technical depth to the tour, unravelling the mysteries of plate tectonics, cave fauna and the history of the Pyrenees.
Once our journey into the depths is complete, we’ll set off on foot for the return journey, which will take a further 30 minutes. We’ll return by vehicle to the starting point with the satisfaction of having explored a hidden corner of the Pyrenees.
The entire experience will last around 4 hours.
