Wine tasting and astronomical observation in the Madrid Region

Change the lights of the city for the glow of the constellations in a magical night among vineyards.

Enjoy a 3-hour experience in San Martín de Valdeiglesias that unites the earth and the firmament. Walk through centuries-old vineyards at sunset, visit a winery with D. O. Madrid and enjoy a wine tasting with an aperitif before exploring the universe with a professional telescope under one of the best skies in the region.

What we will do

We will meet 10 minutes in advance at the meeting point in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, Madrid. There, just as the light begins to change, we will start our evening with a guided tour through centuries-old vineyards, where we will witness a spectacular sunset among the vines. After this walk, we will enter the winery to see where the magic happens and learn how they make their wines with D. O. Madrid.

To warm up, we will enjoy a guided tasting of 2 of their best wines, a white and a red, accompanied by a snack with local products such as pies, cheeses and sausages. While we chat and savour a glass of wine, the day will give way to a dark night. We will move just a few metres to the observation area, a privileged place free of light pollution, where the sky opens up completely before us.

With the help of an astronomer, we will learn to read the constellations and understand what we are looking at up there. The best will come later, when we look through the telescope for planets, nebulae and distant galaxies that can only be seen on dark nights like this one. We'll just have to settle into our chairs or blankets to let ourselves be carried away by the spectacle of one of the best skies in Madrid, thus completing an unforgettable 3-hour experience.

Who it is aimed at

Ideal for beginners and astronomy enthusiasts looking for a different kind of night in the middle of nature. No previous knowledge is required.

Although designed primarily for adults, children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Children under the age of 6 are free of charge. Older children will be offered free must or refreshments.

This is a fully accessible activity for people with reduced mobility.

Other information

The activity takes place from April to October, taking advantage of the clear skies in Madrid. Usually on Fridays or Saturdays.

It is essential to come by car, as the winery is located in a natural setting with no access by public transport.

There is free parking right next to the winery.

It is very important that you do not wear mascara or heavy make-up on your eyes, as these particles damage the precision lenses of the telescope when you zoom in.
