You know that friend who convinces you to do something crazy and then it turns out to be the best idea of the year? Well, that's what's going to happen with canyoning in Somosierra: it challenges you, makes you laugh, soaks you from head to toe... and in the end you just want to do it all over again.
You'll slide down polished rocks, do impressive abseiling and, if you dare, you can conquer a 30-metre high waterfall in the majestic Sierra de Guadarrama.
Get ready for an adventure out of the ordinary, with a mountain guide by your side and surrounded by pure nature.
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before the indicated time at the meeting point in Somosierra, Madrid.
The mountain guide will be waiting for us there, ready to give us all the necessary equipment for the adventure: wetsuit, harness and helmet. After a safety briefing, we will start with a 30 minutes approach walk through spectacular mountain scenery in the Sierra de Guadarrama.
The canyon of Somosierra, also known as Cascada del Duratón, is the ideal destination to get started in this exciting sport. We will enter the heart of the canyon, where we will face a more horizontal first part, with some steep slopes and small jumps.
The route continues with the 30-metre waterfall: here we can decide whether we want to enjoy the complete descent with or without the abseil of the big waterfall (optional, with a supplement of 10 € to be paid on the same day).
Afterwards, a super fun slide and a thrilling flying abseil await us. The obstacles are not compulsory and can be avoided.
At the end of the course, we will walk back to the meeting point. The total duration of the activity is between 3 and 4 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for children aged 8 and over. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and from the age of 16 can participate with a signed authorisation.
The activity is not suitable for pregnant women, people with mobility problems or those who suffer from vertigo. Before the activity you will receive a form to indicate your weight and height, necessary to prepare the equipment.
It is not necessary to know how to swim, but it is necessary to have a good command of the water.
This is an easy level activity, ideal for a first canyoning experience.
Other information
The experience runs from April to October and is confirmed with a minimum of 6 participants.
Those wishing to descend the large 30-metre waterfall must pay a supplement of €10 on site on the day of the activity.
There is free parking in the area, but it is not possible to get there by public transport. It is possible to book a transfer service from Madrid (price on request with the organiser) .
There are no changing rooms on site. Personal belongings can be left in the car.
Important: to activate the insurance you have to communicate your details to the guide. For this and other communications, you will receive the contact details in the booking confirmation email.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
