If you are looking for the most complete and fun canyoning in the central area, the Barranco de los Papuos is the jewel in the crown of the Jerte Valley.
Enjoy an experience of up to 6 hours in one of the most dynamic canyons in the north of Cáceres. This medium level descent offers you a perfect combination of technique and fun: 5 abseils of up to 30 metres, 5 natural slides and 3 jumps into crystal clear water pools. It is the ideal adventure for those who want to conquer a spectacular granite environment in total safety and under the guidance of expert guides.
What we will do
We will meet at the agreed time at the meeting point in Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca. After a brief presentation, we will make a 15-minute transfer in a van organised by the team to the start of the activity in the town of Jerte. Once there, we will dedicate some time to the technical briefing where we will be equipped with wetsuits, helmets and harnesses, and we will learn the basic safety and progression manoeuvres that we will need during the day.
The Barranco de los Papuos is famous for its continuity and wild beauty. Once in the gorge, we will enter a 5-hour route of intense activity on granite rock. The descent is a festival of natural obstacles: we will test our mettle with 5 impressive abseils, including one of 30 metres that will give us a unique aerial perspective of the canyon.
Fun is guaranteed with 5 natural slides excavated by the erosion of the water and 3 strategic jumps (the highest of 10 metres) into deep and transparent pools. Although obstacles are compulsory to complete the descent, the abseiling technique allows you to overcome the most vertical areas with total control. All along the way, the Jerte Valley surroundings will envelop us with its lush vegetation and the purity of its waters.
We will finish this epic day with the transfer back to the starting point, with the satisfaction of having overcome one of the most complete canyons in Spain after about 6 hours of total adventure between the preparations and the descent under the guidance of expert guides.
Who it is aimed at
This adventure is suitable for adults and families with teenagers from the age of 14.
Children must always be accompanied by an adult.
It is a medium level activity, so an acceptable level of fitness is required.
It is necessary to know how to swim.
Not recommended for people with severe vertigo.
For safety reasons, the activity is not suitable for pregnant women, people with reduced mobility or recent serious injuries.

The activity is available all year round, with scheduled departures at 09: 00h.
Groups are made up of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 participants to ensure a smooth progression.
Free parking is available at the meeting point. It is not advisable to use public transport.
The organisers do not have changing rooms or lockers.
It is essential to inform the organisers in advance of any pathology.
Pets are not allowed.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is strict. You get a full refund if you cancel within 15 days from the activity start date. Within 14 and 8 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
