Who needs a rollercoaster when you’ve got the Mijares riverbed ready to give you a proper thrill on the white water?
At the Estrecho de Chillapájaros in Castellón, a 3½-hour abseil-free canyoning adventure awaits you, with up to 2 hours of pure action inside the gorge. You’ll venture into a stunning river canyon to swim through rapids and plunge into natural pools from optional jumps of up to 6 metres high. It’s a perfect route for beginners, led by qualified guides, and includes entry to the thermal pools at Fuente de los Baños in Montanejos where you can relax .
What we will do
We’ll meet at the agreed time at the meeting point in Montán, Castellón. There , we’ll meet our qualified guides, who will welcome us and provide us with all the necessary technical equipment: wetsuit, helmet and life jacket.
Once kitted out, we’ll board the organisers’ transport for a journey of around 20 minutes to the entrance of the Chillapájaros Gorge, an impressive canyon with vertical rock faces carved out by the River Mijares. Once there, the instructors will give us safety instructions and explain the correct way to navigate the currents.
We’ll then head into the river to begin a thrilling and fun white-water adventure. We’ll go with the flow, swim through spectacular stretches and tackle exciting rapids. During the trip, we’ll have the chance to test our courage with optional jumps into natural pools from heights of up to 6 metres.
After enjoying between one and a half and two hours of pure action and jumps in the river, the vehicle will collect us to take us back to Montán. We’ll say goodbye to the team and receive our tickets to round off the experience by relaxing in the thermal pools at Fuente de los Baños in Montanejos. This brings to a close a refreshing adventure which, including transfers, equipment and the canyoning activity, will take us around three and a half hours in total.

Suitable for beginners and participants of all levels.
The minimum age to take part is 12 years ( children must always be accompanied by an adult) .
You must be able to swim.
This activity is not suitable for pregnant women. It is also not recommended for people with reduced mobility or in wheelchairs.
Pets are not permitted on this experience.

The experience runs all year round.
The excursion is a shared tour with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 16 participants.
The meeting point has ample free parking. We do not recommend travelling by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is strict. You get a full refund if you cancel within 15 days from the activity start date. Within 14 and 8 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
