Did you know that the river Asón is one of the most legendary descents in Spain?
Take the plunge on this canoeing adventure in Ampuero, Cantabria. A fun route that alternates calm backwaters with some adrenaline-filled rapids . You'll navigate through the riverside vegetation while discovering old fishermen's refuges.
Get ready to jump over the dam and enjoy the activity with family or friends.
What we will do
The guide will meet us punctually at the jetty in Ampuero, Cantabria, to give us all the necessary equipment. Before entering the water, we will be given a brief training on safety rules and paddling technique so that we can enjoy the activity with complete confidence.
We will start the guided descent alternating calm backwaters with rapids and moments of adrenaline. When we reach the reservoir, we will make a brief stop before the most exciting stage: the dam jump!
The moments of calm will allow us to observe the bottom of the valley and the rich fauna that inhabits its banks: birds such as the kingfisher, grey herons, blackbirds, wagtails, wagtails? We will paddle surrounded by riverside vegetation with alders, willows and hazelnut trees. During the route we will also pass by the old fishermen's refuges and we will have the opportunity to see up close the pools where the Atlantic salmon are fished.
At the end of the river tour, which will take about 2 hours, we will return to the starting point in the guide's vehicle.
The total duration of the activity will be about 3 hours.
Who it is aimed at
No experience is necessary.
You can participate from the age of 6 years old, but the minimum age will be decided by the guide depending on the river flow.
Children between 6 and 10 years old will paddle in a canoe with 2 adults.Children between 11 and 15 years old can paddle in a canoe with an adult.
It is necessary to know how to swim.
People with slight motor disabilities can participate with a companion to assist them.
If you have any doubts about the suitability of the activity, consult your doctor.
Other information
The activity is available from Easter until 30 September and is confirmed when a minimum group of 4 people is reached.
Please note that the guide will meet you at the boarding area, so there are no changing rooms or lockers available. If necessary, you will be able to use the guide's van for support.
The activity is pet-friendly, so you can also take part with your dog.
Those accompanying you who are not taking part can walk around the river.
Although you will have a watertight water bottle at your disposal, it is not advisable to bring valuables.
At the end of the activity, the guide will send you any photos or videos taken.
Free parking is available near the meeting point. It is not possible to reach the area by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
