If you think the dehesas of Salamanca are just a land of bulls and holm oaks, it's because you haven't yet looked through a telescope at the Laguna del Cristo.
Enjoy a 4-hour private birdwatching day with an expert guide in one of the most important wetlands of Castilla y León, identifying from elegant waders to majestic raptors in a quiet and fully customisable route .
What we will do
Your guide will meet you 10 minutes before the agreed time at the meeting point in Aldehuela de Yeltes to start a day of natural immersion. After a brief introduction, you will head towards the Laguna del Cristo, one of the most important ornithological sites in Salamanca. This wetland, located in the heart of the Campo Charro, is the perfect habitat for a huge variety of aquatic birds , waders and birds of prey that use the area to breed or rest.
Upon arrival, you will begin a guided tour, making strategic stops at various points around the lagoon. You will enjoy a quiet and leisurely tour, designed so that you can appreciate the biodiversity of this ecosystem without rushing. With the help of professional telescopes and binoculars, you will search for and identify iconic species such as the great crested grebe, spoonbill and marsh harrier, learning interesting facts about their behaviour and migratory routes.
During the observation, you will also look at the holm oaks in the adjoining wood pastures. In this contrast of landscapes, you will be able to see scrubland and pastureland birds such as shrikes, bee-eaters and black-winged warblers. The guide will help you to differentiate the songs and plumage, making the experience educational and enjoyable whether you are beginners or already experienced in the world of birdwatching.
You will finish the activity after approximately 4 hours of interpretation and connection with nature in one of the most beautiful lagoons in Castilla y León. You will return to the starting point with a renewed vision of the natural heritage of Salamanca and having shared an exclusive morning or afternoon in an unforgettable environment.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is strict. You get a full refund if you cancel within 15 days from the activity start date. Within 14 and 8 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
