Honey is the ultimate prize. .. but what if you first discover everything that goes on in the hive?
Become a beekeeper for a day in Berguedà and go inside a real beehive, learn about artisanal beekeeping and enjoy a local honey tasting in a super interesting experience of about 3 hours.
What we will do
We will meet at the agreed time at the meeting point in Avià, Barcelona, where our expert guide will welcome us and start this beekeeping experience. After the introduction, we will go to the workshop and, from there, we will drive to a nearby apiary, surrounded by nature and far from the daily noise.
Once in the apiary, we will put on the protective suit and, accompanied by the beekeeper, we will approach the hives to observe at close quarters how life develops inside them. We will try to locate the queen, we will see how the workers work and we will understand how a beehive is organised, a small universe where each bee knows its function to perfection.
During the visit we will also learn how honey is extracted by hand, following traditional methods used for generations. We will learn the whole process, from the work of the bees to the production of this highly prized product.
Finally, we will return to the workshop, where we will enjoy a guided tasting of different Berguedà honeys - rosemary, thousand flowers, high mountain and more - and we will have time to visit the local shop and take home artisan products.
The whole experience lasts approximately 3 hours, during which you'll discover that there's a whole story behind every jar of honey.

It is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users, as access to the apiary is via paths.
Not suitable for people allergic to bee stings.

The experience takes place from March to October, on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
The activity is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants and a maximum of 15.
Free parking is available at the meeting point. It is not advisable to arrive by public transport, as this is a rural area.
Pets are not allowed.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
