Full description
Did you know that Teide National Park is one of the best places on the planet to gaze at the cosmos?
Escape the daily grind on a 1½-hour adventure in Tenerife, designed to make you feel like a real astronomer. Accompanied by astrophysicists and certified guides, you’ll learn the secrets of the night sky and see planets, nebulae and star clusters through a high-powered professional telescope. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time; you’ll discover the universe in the simplest, clearest and most exciting way.
What we will do
We’ll meet at the time specified in your booking at the meeting point in La Orotava, Tenerife. There, we’ll be met by our guide – a certified astrophysicist and tour guide – who’ll welcome us and prepare us to immerse ourselves in one of the clearest skies on Earth, high above the sea of clouds.
We’ll start with a 45-minute explanatory briefing where we’ll learn the basics of astronomy and find out which celestial bodies will be visible during the evening. We’ll discover how a high-end professional telescope works and explore the constellations with the naked eye whilst listening to fascinating explanations about the history of the cosmos.
In the second half of the tour, we’ll get down to business by observing through a high-powered telescope (20 cm in diameter) suited to the season. Taking turns, we’ll look through the eyepiece to examine the night’s treasures in detail: from Saturn’s rings and the craters on the Moon to distant galaxies and brilliant nebulae (depending on the season) .
As we’ll be a small group of no more than 10 people, we’ll be able to ask all our questions and enjoy an intimate, unhurried evening. After an hour and a half of this experience, we’ll say our goodbyes feeling as though we’ve touched the heavens with our own hands and with a completely renewed perspective on the universe.
