Full description
Say goodbye to the routine with a full day of 4x4 adventure in the wild side of Granada.
Explore the Geopark of Granada from its most spectacular viewpoints to its historic villages, watch brave bulls behind the fence, pass by old mines and castles, savour a typical lunch and then enter the desert of Gorafe, with its reddish badlands. Visit ancient dolmens and an authentic troglodyte cave where time stood still.
Between 6 and 7 hours of landscapes, history and surprises that will never cease to amaze you!
What we will do
We will meet 15 minutes before the agreed time in Guadix, right in the heart of the Geopark of Granada. There we will be met by our guide, who will explain the route, answer our questions and put us in adventure mode before we get into the 4x4.
The morning will start with some of the most emblematic stops in the area: we will go to the spectacular Mirador del Fin del Mundo, a natural balcony that looks like the Grand Canyon itself, from where we will contemplate the labyrinth of gullies and badlands that extend into the Sierra Nevada. We will continue through quiet villages of the Marquesado, until we reach a cattle ranch where we will see fighting bulls just 10 metres behind the fence, a thrilling and safe experience. Further on we pass the old iron mines of Alquife, stop to admire the reservoir of Cogollos de Guadix, and visit the imposing castle of La Calahorra, which towers over the plain like a stone guardian.
Afterwards, we will take a well-deserved break to enjoy a home-cooked lunch with a pre-established menu in a typical local restaurant: a tasty spoon dish, followed by grilled chicken or lamb and other local delicacies.
In the afternoon, after recharging our batteries, we'll have a complete change of scenery and head into the Gorafe desert. Los Colorados awaits us there, a landscape of badlands, clay and reddish sands sculpted by thousands of years of wind and water. We will walk a little among its impossible crests and take photos that will look like something out of Mars. On the way we will visit Stone Age dolmens that were once mass tombs, and make a brief picnic stop for a coffee and a snack while we take in the scenery.
To close, we will enter an authentic troglodyte cave dug into the mountain, a real dwelling where people lived until just a few decades ago. Crossing its threshold will be like travelling back in time.
Throughout the tour, the guide will share anecdotes, curiosities and stories that will bring each place to life. We will finish back at the starting point after more than 100 km covered by 4x4, in a day of between 6 and 7 hours full of incredible landscapes, history and places that very few people know about.
